Limnobium laevigatum is a decorative floating plant that is suitable for open aquariums.
Size wise, it can grow 1-5 cm tall and leaves from 5-15 cm wide.
Limnobium laevigatum is rather undemanding and grows fast. Its round smooth leaves look attractive in open tanks, the long roots add a very natural, primitive feel to the aquarium.
Limnobium laevigatum is especially suitable for fish and shrimp breeding tanks, as it removes surplus nutrients from the water very efficiently.
Its fine, long and decorative roots provide protection to surface fishes that like the roots of floating plants.
The plant can be used as an indicator of nutrients levels in the water – If there are enough nutrients in the water and the light intensity is good, new leaves will appear above the water surface. When the nutrient level in the water decreases, it will grow much slower.
Note: May become necessary to remove some so as to provide sufficient light to other plants beneath it.
The Tissue Culture plants are grown in-vitro in the laboratory specialized in propagating aquatic plants.
Aquatic Farmer provide the best option for those who want to ensure that their aquatic plants are pest-free and safe for shrimps.
