Some hobbyists create their aquascape using stones (ie Iwagumi style aka rock formation).
A popular Iwagumi is created using 3 large stones. The largest (ie the main stone) is usually placed first followed by the next largest to its left or right. The smallest stone is then placed with an aim to achieve overall harmony to the layout.
Though Seiryu rock hardens the water by a little, it should not present a problem as one can keep the carbonate hardness under control through regular water change for their aquarium.
You may consider adding low-growing carpet foreground aquatic plants like Glossostigma elantinoides, Hemianthus callitrichoides or Eleocharis pusilla.
Tip: Try to use 1 type or not more than 2 types of rocks as this will help to create the most natural feel in your aquarium.
Tank set-up with rocks and driftwood is known as "hardscape".
Important point to note is rocks must not influence the water negatively (ie should not harden the water), and wood must not be prone to rot. You can use rocks with a small content of lime if you change the water regularly to avoid the water from getting too hard.
